Research Associate in Software Engineering or Program Analysis

Duties and Responsibilities

We are seeking a postdoctoral research associate for DAASE, an EPSRC-funded programme grant, hosted in the Software Systems Engineering group at UCL, supervised by Dr. Earl Barr and Professor Mark Harman.

Recent advances in search-based software engineering and the intersection of ML and program analysis have opened up exciting possibilities to extend and transform traditional program analysis. The successful candidate will apply ML techniques to software engineering problems or program analysis. 

This post is funded until 31 November 2018 in the first instance. Further funding to support the post may be available.

Key Requirements

The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive expertise in program analysis or software engineering and a strong interest in the application area. We will expect you to be a self-motivated individual with the ability to take responsibility for key components of the research, including the selection of research questions, development of new approaches, and preparation of papers for academic publications. You should also be comfortable working in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment.

Awarded (or about to be awarded) a PhD in a relevant areaResearch experience in program analysis, verification, or software engineeringPublication in relevant, peer-reviewed venues is essential, with an emphasis on quality over quantityStrong programming skills
